Getting to the end and exam No. 2

Hello everyone! :) Since I forgot to mention in my old blog post, good december for all of you! Christmas is around the corner, and it's totally one of my favorite times of the year. So we had a busy last week. First it started off with a lecture on Monday by Mika Aittamäki. The topic was sales in the new digital era. Interesting to say the least. One thing that really stuck with me about the lecture was when he said that if he were to search something online, he would no longer use Google to do it but rather ask people on Twitter. What do you guys think? Old trusty never fails Google, or asking straight from other people and getting their personal experience? I'm a Google kind of a girl, but then again that might just be because my use of Twitter is very minimal.

He mentioned many more interesting facts about the digital era. Like how the customer always has the power nowadays. And not just in the traditional "The customer is always right" kind of a way, but also how they can search everything so easily. The customers often are experts in the product they wish to buy and they expect the sales person to meet these same standards. Because of this it's also extremely important to keep your marketing strategy excellent and for it to actually reach the wished customer base.

After this lecture Niklas Litmala from Leijona Academy told a little about their actions and what they provide here in Helsinki. I recommend to check them out if you're interested!

After this our teacher and lecturer Ilkka Kurkela gave us a lecture about digital humanism. The concept itself was very interesting. Aristotle has said that there are three things that can affect the human mind: Ethos, ethical things, Pathos, emotional things and Logos, rational things. More recently Kotler referred to these same things in his book about marketing principles. When constructing marketing, you should try to appeal for the rational, the emotional or the ethical thought. It's pretty amazing I think, how there's such a link between ancient Greeks and modern digital marketing.

Some good advice from Ilkka :)

On Thursday we had our final exam, which I really hope went well! But you know, you can never know for sure :D We shall find out! The last weeks about to commence and it's a bitter sweet moment, because I've had so many fun memories with my group about filming and doing the tasks we were given. We've done a bit of a montage of these for our final presentation and I can't waaait to show everyone!

Until next week guys! :)
