Roadtrip to Porvoo and we get to plan a commercial??

Hello hello :) Im just gonna first start of by telling that I'm sick so I'm gonna try to make this post good but we'll have to see how it comes out :D So lots of things happened this week. Firstly on monday, we had presentations by the companies that we would be working with. Our company is DigiPeople studio, which I'm so happy about! Shortly about the company, they basically create any kinds of motion pictures, animations and videos. They do lots of commercials and have worked for huge finnish companies such as Fazer.

I'll link their website here: http://www.digipeople.fi/fi/etusivu/

After their presentation we got to have a short meeting with them, where they explained our project and what we would be doing for them. They also told a bit more about themselves and about their company. For example they told that the key aspect and what they thrive to do, is to always create stories in their commercials. Stories that would draw out different kinds of emotions. They also told that their motto is "Do what you love," which you can really see in their creations and in their company.

So more over to what we would have the honor of doing it with them. Our task is to choose 3 companies completely of our own choise, that we feel like would maybe need a commercial as a part of their marketing strategy. Then we come up with an idea for a storyline for their commercial and send these 3 ideas to DigiPeople studio. After this DigiPeople studio will narrow it down to one company, which we will then fully create a storyline for. They might then use our idea and put it into production! How amazing would that be, our own idea seen on the television! We also created a video to present to our class, telling what our project was going to be about so I'll put that here:

We created this on Tuesday, when we also planned a bit about the companies and ideas we would suggest but I'll talk about those later! We also planned a trip to Porvoo, to check out one possibility for the company we would use. So on wednesday we took a group roadtrip to porvoo, which was so much fun :D I'll put some photos of that here:

By the way guys, Porvoo is beautiful and you should definitely check it out if you get the chance to. We visited Brunberg Factory store. Brunberg is a finnish candy manufacturer, and they make suuuch good candy. I might've bought some from there to take home with me :D Anyway here's me and the girls in multiple photos, I hope you like them!

So on Thursday we had a lecture from Jyri Rasinmäki from Vapa Media. He talked about Problem Solving. I found his topic pretty interesting. And at least some thoughts that he had to say about it. One quote from him was for example: "The size of the problem is equivalent to the amount of time used to solve the problem." Now this I think can work both ways, as in you can make your problems seem less if you don't think and worry yourlsef as much over them. I am very quilty of doing this at least, but does worrying actually help in anyway to solve the issue?

Secondly Mr. Rasinmäki talked about the Importance of thinking. I really love the concept of this. Al though it kinda ties in with what I was saying in the earlier paragraph. So don't think and worry too much, but for the amount that you do make it count. Maybe that's what he was going for, as in if you find the best way of thinking for yourself to solve problems, it won't take long at all before you're through with them. In the end he told us to write down three key things, that we learned and thought of as most important about problem solving. I wrote down:

1. Don't limit your thought process

(Wow I'm all over today with thinking, and how much time you should spend on it :D) But no I rather meant that you shouldn't only think that there is only one way to see things. Keep your mind open and you might find that some problems are easier to solve in things that you maybe didn't even want to believe in before.

2. Don't believe that there is only one right solution

Ties in with number 1. There might another option, a better option even that would get you a completely different kind of a result. So don't be afraid to take a chance on something that you might not necessarily know that much about.

3. Believe in your intuition

I really believe in intuition. You know that gut feeling when something just tells you that "yes, this is what youre supposed to be doing" or "No Linda, you dont need 3 chocolate bars for one day." That. Listen to it, and again don't be afraid to take chances. Worse comes to worst and you'll have something to laugh about later on.

Okay, guys, this blog post would be far too long if I add on my (amazing) experience at Nordic Business Forum livestream. So I think that I'll just make an additional post about that so it'll be easier to read and check up!

Until.. the next post I guess? :D
